In a block of flats in Torquay there is a service trunking that is open up through the building to each floor with Electrical isolators & consumer units. Following a Fire Risk Assessment (FRA) it was recommended that these should be isolated / compartmentalised and the doors upgraded to FD30(S) specification.
Following technical advice from specialist suppliers giving a method of achieving the recommendation of the FRA the following was fitted;-
- The service trunking was battoned out both top and bottom
- Where possible the wiring looms were pulled together and fitted with an intumescent wrap and secured with a stainless steel cable tie.
- The trunking was sealed with Fire Batt stopping with tight fits around the wiring looms and sealed with intumescent mastic.
